Five Signs

“Five Signs” (artwork by me)

The people I saw were saying many things about me. They could be seen whispering things I could not hear. I was not ready, however, to find out what they were talking about or why. The time had come to turn inward. The five signs of the astral soul had to present themselves. The colors I saw were tan, black, and ivory: the colors of frigid doom and arid glee alike. Three days had passed since I last saw the smile of this wrathful deity. The days I cannot see him smile are difficult to get through. Two months is a long time for most. The two creatures of his creation are spotted lizards of bright hues, claimed by many to include blinding shades of purple, red, and blue. The final composition of this land was a matter yet to settle among the reptiles of good fortune. Criminal upbringings set the naysayers apart. The final piece of this dotted map lay hidden courtesy of their ignorance. Fifty days had passed since the trees last ate. The tension in the air was palpable and difficult to deny. I saw similar numbers on the inner walls of the castle. The grids of endless tiles broke into a riot of color upon observation and appeared to recede into a dream of ivory and black upon my inattention.
